What is iFutsal

What is iFutsal

iFutsal brings your group’s matches together: communities, call-ups, replies, teams and post-match records. You can be a player, an organizer or an admin, with a different role in each community.

The ifutsal.app website introduces the project. To use the app, open app.ifutsal.app. This guide takes you from joining a community to playing and organizing.

Getting started

Create your account with an invite

The beta is invite-only. From a community invite link, choose “Register to continue” to carry the code into the form. If you only have a code, open “Sign up” and enter it under “Invite code”.

Enter your first name, surname, email, password and playing role. Nickname and avatar are optional. Use a password of at least 10 characters. You must be at least 14, accept the Terms and have read the privacy notice.

  1. Fill in the form. For an invite tied to an email address, use that address.
  2. Choose “Create account”.
  3. Check your inbox: you still need to confirm the account.

Confirm your email or request another link

Open the registration email’s link and choose “Confirm” on the page it opens. If you are then shown a community invite, accept it separately: creating the account does not accept the invitation.

If the link has expired or was already used, choose “Request a new confirmation email.”. The unconfirmed-account message on the sign-in page also links to the resend form.

  1. Enter your registration email on the “Resend confirmation” page.
  2. Choose “Resend email” and check your inbox. The on-screen reply is generic; it does not confirm that an email was sent.

Sign in and sign out

Open “Log in”, enter the email and password you registered with, then choose “Log in”. If a match link brought you to sign-in, you return to that match afterwards.

To sign out, open the account menu using your avatar in the header and choose “Log out”. For an invite tied to a different email, sign out and reopen the link with the right account.

Accept or decline an invite

A community invite shows the group and the role being offered. Sign in if you already have an account; otherwise register and confirm your email. Choose “Accept” to join.

For invitations waiting after registration, “Decline” asks for confirmation and closes the invitation. You will need a new one to join later. If several invitations are waiting, answer each separately.

When you instead open a link directly with an existing account, “Decline” returns to the home page without using up the invitation. You can reopen that link while it is still valid.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. From “Log in”, open “Forgot password?”.
  2. Enter your account email and choose “Send the link”.
  3. Open the email link, choose “Confirm”, then enter and repeat your new password.
  4. Choose “Save the new password”. If the link is no longer valid, request a new one.

Add iFutsal to your Home Screen

On iPhone, open app.ifutsal.app in Safari. Open Share, choose “Add to Home Screen”, enable “Open as Web App”, then confirm the addition. Launch iFutsal using its new icon.

On Android, open app.ifutsal.app in Chrome and open the ⋮ menu. Current Chrome help uses “Install and create shortcut”, then “Install”; other versions may show “Install app”. Follow the prompts on your phone.

Choose a theme and language

Once signed in, open the avatar’s account menu and choose “Light”, “Dark” or “System”. Before signing in, use the theme menu in the header.

The English app is at app.ifutsal.app/en; the Italian version is at app.ifutsal.app. The current app has no IT/EN selector.

Refresh a page in the installed app

In the app launched from its Home Screen icon, scroll to the top. Pull down with one finger; when the ring fills, release to refresh the data. An indicator is shown while it loads.

The gesture belongs to the installed app mode. When using iFutsal in a browser tab, use the browser’s refresh command.

Your profile

Edit your details and avatar

Open the avatar’s account menu in the header and choose “Profile”. Your card has an “Edit profile” icon that opens the form.

You can change your first name, surname, nickname, playing role and avatar. Choose one of the supplied avatars, or “None, use initials” to use initials.

  1. Edit your details and choose “Save”.
  2. Choose “Cancel” to leave the form without saving.

Your player page and your teammates’ pages

Tap a person’s name or avatar in a community’s member list or a match’s call-ups to open their card. An account holder’s page uses /u/ followed by their personal address.

A registered player’s page requires sign-in and is visible to people who share a community with them. It also shows their email. Sharing its link does not make it public. Ghosts and anonymous former-member profiles have community-specific cards.

Your statistics

On your Profile and player page, the Statistics card shows Appearances and Goals for each community and a Total. Communities are ordered by appearances, then by name; those where your counts are still zero are included.

Counts include call-ups marked Present and goals from matches with a published post-match report. Confirming a call-up alone does not add an appearance. If an organiser corrects the post-match report, the counts change too.

Your career also includes communities you have left and deleted communities. Anyone who can open your player page sees the names and counts of all these communities, even if they do not belong to them.

A ghost or memorial profile instead shows statistics for its own community only, without a Total row.

Change your player page address

Choose “Login & security” from the account menu. Under “Your page address” you can see the current address and choose “Change address”.

Use lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, with no hyphen at either end. The address must be available. Existing links to the old address stop working when you change it.

  1. Enter the new address and choose “Save”.
  2. Share the new link with anyone who needs it.

Change your email address

Open “Login & security”, then “Change email”. Enter the new address and choose “Send”.

Both inboxes must confirm the change: the current address and the new one. After the first link, the process waits for the other. The address changes only when both confirmations are complete.

  1. Open each email’s link and choose “Confirm” on the confirmation page.
  2. Check that “Login & security” now shows the new address.

Change a password you still know

From the account menu, open “Login & security” and choose “Change password”. Enter your current password, a new password and its confirmation.

The new password must have at least 10 characters and differ from the current one. Changing it signs out your other sessions while keeping this one open.

  1. Fill in the three fields and choose “Save”.

Delete your account

Open “Delete your account” under “Login & security”. Read the effects on your communities first: if you are the only person with management authority, a group may be left with nobody to manage it. The organizer role does not transfer automatically.

Deletion is permanent. Your profile is deleted and an anonymous record remains in your communities to preserve their history. This is different from leaving just one community.

  1. Enter your current password.
  2. Choose “Delete my account permanently”, then “Confirm deletion” in the dialog only if you want to delete the account.

For players

Find matches

Choose “All matches” inside a community to see its matches. The header’s “My matches” brings together matches from your communities, including matches you have not been called up for.

Lists are split into “Upcoming” and “Past”. A match stays in the upcoming list for its whole calendar day, even after kick-off. Match dates and times use the Europe/Rome time zone.

Answer a call-up

Your match page shows “Your call-up” and your current status. You can reply or change your reply until kick-off, while the match is scheduled and the call-up remains active.

Replying takes two steps: choose an answer and then confirm it. Once you have answered, the page offers the alternative answer.

  1. Choose “I'm in” or “I'm out”.
  2. In the dialog, choose “Confirm «I'm in»” or “Confirm «I'm out»”.
  3. Check that the page shows your answer. If you withdraw a confirmation, you give up your place in the confirmation order.

Offer to play before you are called up

If you are a player who has not been called up and the match has not started, its page shows “Availability”. Choose “Say I'm available” to let the organizers know you would like to play.

Availability does not guarantee a place and is not an “I'm in” reply. Wait for a call-up, then answer it. Before kick-off you can choose “Withdraw availability”. Organizers and admins instead have a direct self-call-up option.

Understand starters and reserves

The format determines the starter count: for a 6-a-side match, the first 12 confirmed players are starters and the others are reserves. Order is based on confirmation time, including replies made by an organizer on a player’s behalf.

If a starter changes to “I'm out”, the first reserve becomes a starter. Someone who later switches back to “I'm in” joins the order at the new confirmation time. Changing the match format can also change who is a starter.

Moving up from the reserves does not automatically assign you to a team. An organizer needs to place you.

Read the result and match report

Once the post-match is published, the match page shows the result, teams, player goals and any “Match report”. People recorded as present without a team appear in a separate list.

Confirming you will play is different from being recorded as having attended. Organizers and admins set the attendance record in the post-match.

Leave a community and rejoin

In the community’s member list, open the “…” menu on your own row and choose “Leave the community”, then confirm. You have seven days, up to the displayed deadline, to rejoin.

While leaving, you no longer have active member access. From “My communities”, choose “Rejoin” if you left voluntarily. If you were expelled, an organizer or admin must readmit you.

The return window expires. Afterwards your historical membership becomes anonymous. If you are the last person with management authority, promote someone else before leaving.

For organizers

Found a community

In “My communities”, “Found a community” appears when your account is enabled to create a community. That entitlement creates one community; it is not permission to create unlimited groups.

Choose the community’s name and address. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens for the address; the founding flow does not let you change it later. You become the group’s organizer.

  1. Open “Found a community”, fill in the name and address, then choose “Found community”.

Organizer, admin and player

Roles belong to each community. Organizers and admins manage members, invites, matches, call-ups, teams and post-match records. Players answer their own call-ups and view the group’s information.

To appoint an admin, open the “…” menu on the member’s row and choose “Promote to admin”. To remove management rights, choose “Demote to player” and confirm. Admins can also promote or demote other admins.

You cannot demote the organizer or remove the group’s last active manager through a role change. Before leaving, giving up management rights or deleting your account, check who will still be able to manage the community.

Generate and share an invite

On the community page, open the “Manage community” icon, then “Invites”. The “Invite a player” form creates a link for you to send, for example through WhatsApp. It is valid for seven days.

Leave the email blank for a link that anyone receiving it can use. Enter an email to restrict the invite to that address. A standard invite joins the person as a player; appoint them as an admin afterwards if needed.

  1. Enter an email for an address-specific invite, or leave it blank.
  2. Choose “Generate invite”, then “Copy”, and send the link to the recipient.
  3. If automatic copying fails, select and copy the link from the displayed field.

Review and revoke invites

“Invites” lists waiting and closed invitations with their status. A still-valid invite lets you retrieve its link for sharing.

To stop an open invitation, choose “Revoke” and confirm. Its link stops working and revocation cannot be undone. Revoking an invite is not how you remove someone who has already joined.

Add and edit a ghost player

A ghost is a player without an account. You can keep them in the community, call them up and reply on their behalf. They do not need to register to be included in matches.

From “Manage community”, open “Add a ghost”. Name and playing role are enough; surname, nickname and avatar are optional. If a similar name is found, check whether it is the same person before choosing “Create anyway”.

  1. Fill in the details and choose “Add”.
  2. To change them, use “Edit” on the member’s row, or open their card and its edit icon.
  3. Choose “Save”. A claimed or anonymized profile can no longer be edited as a ghost.

Invite a ghost to claim their profile

When a player gets an account, it can take over their existing ghost profile and its history. Choose “Invite to claim” on the ghost’s member row.

This invitation needs the correct person’s email address. The recipient can see the profile they are claiming. Accepting replaces the ghost with their account and cannot be undone. An account already in that community cannot claim a second profile there.

  1. Enter the email, generate the link and send it to the player.
  2. The recipient signs in or finishes registration, checks the named profile and accepts.

Expel and readmit a member

Choose “Expel” from a member’s “…” menu and confirm. The member loses active access and has a seven-day return window in which a manager can readmit them.

Before that deadline, choose “Readmit” on their row. Someone who left voluntarily must rejoin themselves. An admin cannot expel the organizer, and the group cannot be left without an active manager through this action.

Create a match

Choose “New match” from the community, or open “Manage community” and its new-match option. Enter the date, time, pitch and format: 5, 6 or 7 players per side. The fee in euros is optional.

Times use Europe/Rome. You may enter a date in the past, but the form asks for an extra confirmation.

  1. Fill in the fields and choose “Create match”.
  2. If “The date is in the past, do you confirm?” appears, check the date and time before choosing “Yes, confirm the date”.
  3. Continue to call-ups from the new match page.

Duplicate a match

Choose “Duplicate” on a match page. The form reuses the time, pitch, format and any fee, while leaving the date blank for the new day.

Duplication creates a new match. It does not copy call-ups, replies, teams or the result. You can also duplicate a cancelled match.

  1. Choose the date, adjust any other details and select “Create match”.

Edit or cancel a match

Choose “Edit” on the match page to change its details and save the form. Changing the format may change who counts as a starter or a reserve.

To cancel, choose “Cancel match”, optionally add a reason, then confirm with “Cancel the match”. The match stays visible as cancelled and cannot be restored. Duplicate it if you need a new match.

A cancelled match lets you update its reason with “Edit reason”. A played match no longer offers cancellation; use its post-match to correct the result or attendance.

Select players and call them up

On the match page, choose “Call up” in “Called up”. Select members and choose “Call up”. “Select all” selects everyone available in the form; “Deselect all” clears it.

People who offered to play appear in their own group, in availability order. Calling them up does not confirm them: they still need to answer, or you can answer on their behalf.

You can add people after kick-off while the match is neither cancelled nor played. For a guest without an account, first add a ghost to the community.

Share the match link

Before kick-off, the match page offers “Copy the link of the match”. Copy the link and share it through your group’s usual channel. There is one link for the match, not a separate personal link per player.

Recipients must sign in and belong to the community. Reply yourself from the call-up list for ghosts, who have no account.

Reply for someone and remove a call-up

On a called-up player’s row, open the “…” menu, choose “Mark as in” or “Mark as out” and confirm. The answer is recorded as given by you and takes its place from that time.

To remove someone from this match, choose “Remove from the match” and confirm. This does not expel them from the community. You can call them up again; the new call-up starts waiting for a reply.

Organizers and admins can make these changes after kick-off. Publishing the post-match marks the match as played and closes call-ups; later corrections belong in the post-match.

Call yourself up when you also play

If you are an organizer or admin who has not been called up, the match page offers “I'm in”. Choose it and confirm to call yourself up and confirm at once.

Your place counts from that confirmation, with no priority over other players. You can do this after kick-off while the match remains scheduled. If you are already called up and need to change your answer after kick-off, use your own row’s “…” menu.

Build and reorder the teams

Choose “Edit teams” from the match page. Organizers and admins see it once someone has confirmed, while the match is neither played nor cancelled.

Unassigned starters have A and B buttons. A player already in a team has “Remove” and ↑/↓ arrows for their position. Without dragging, remove a player first, then assign them using A or B to change teams. With a mouse, you can drag between columns or reorder within a team.

An unassigned reserve cannot be added until they become a starter. Someone already assigned is not automatically removed if a format change later makes them a reserve.

Save a team draft and publish it

Only organizers and admins can see team drafts. “Save draft” keeps the work without showing it to players.

“Publish” saves and publishes the teams after you confirm in the dialog. Every member can then see them. Later edits become visible as soon as you choose “Save”.

“Discard changes and go back to the match” leaves the page and discards any unsaved changes.

Editing in progress and taking over

The teams and post-match share one editing session per match. If another manager is editing, the page shows their name and is read-only.

You can choose “Take over” and confirm. The other person’s unsaved changes are lost, and their page becomes read-only when it detects the takeover. Your unsaved changes can likewise be lost if another admin takes over.

Leaving the page releases the editing session. If an abrupt close leaves the lock behind, it expires two minutes after its last renewal.

Open the post-match

Organizers and admins can open the post-match one hour after kick-off. Choose “Fill in the post-match” on the match page. “To fill in” in a match list means the post-match has not been published yet.

The page resumes a saved draft if one exists; otherwise it starts from the teams. Initially, team players are marked present and other confirmed players absent. Check what actually happened before publishing. Cancelled matches have no post-match.

Record the teams and actual attendance

The post-match lists members you can add to teams, including ghosts and people who were not called up. Use A or B for someone who played, then ↑/↓ to set the order; dragging also works with a mouse.

Being in a team marks a player as present. To mark a confirmed team player absent, choose “Remove” and untick “Present” on their unassigned row. A confirmed player can remain present without belonging to a team.

Adding someone to a draft does not immediately call them up. That happens when you publish.

Score, scorers and match report

Enter Team A’s and Team B’s goals under “Score”. Use − and + beside team players to assign their goals. Team scores and individual goal counts range from 0 to 99.

The goals assigned to a team’s players cannot exceed that team’s score. Any difference stays unattributed; you do not have to assign every goal to a person.

“Match report (optional)” accepts up to 2,000 characters. Members see the published report as you wrote it; changing language does not translate it.

Save and publish the post-match

“Save draft” keeps the score, teams, attendance, goals and report for organizers and admins. The score may still be blank. The draft stays private to managers and does not mark the match as played.

Publishing requires both teams’ scores, with player goals within their team totals. Choose “Publish” and confirm in the dialog. Members can then see the post-match, the match becomes played and ordinary call-ups close.

“Discard changes and go back to the match” leaves without saving your latest edits. Any draft already saved is still available when you reopen the page.

Frequently asked questions

My invite link does not work

An invite may have expired, been revoked or already been used. Some only work with one email address. Check which account is signed in; if necessary sign out, reopen the link and use the intended address.

If it still fails, ask the inviter to check the invitation or generate a new one. A generic message does not identify the cause.

I cannot see a match

Check that you are signed in with an account belonging to the right community. Having the match link is not enough. Leaving the group, including being in the return window, removes active member access.

In “My matches”, also look under “Past”. If you have not joined the community yet, check that you accepted its invitation.

I confirmed but I am a reserve

Places follow reply order, not call-up order. If all starter places are filled, you become a reserve. A confirmation made by an admin for you takes its place when the admin gives it.

Switching to “I'm out” and later back to “I'm in” does not restore your former place; the new confirmation time applies.

Another admin is editing

The page is read-only while another manager owns the editing session. Wait for them to finish, or choose “Take over” knowing that their unsaved edits will be lost.

If you were editing and lost the lock, your unsaved changes are not kept. Check the reloaded version before starting again.

Get help

Choose “Support” in the app footer to email support@ifutsal.app. Describe the page and the step where you got stuck. Do not send your account password.

Glossary

Call-up

An invitation to one match. It may be waiting for a reply, confirmed or declined. It is different from an invitation to join a community.
